BOWERS SHRIMP

It began with only 12 ponds...

Farm-raised Pacific White Shrimp (Penaeus vannmei)

Bowers Shrimp is the largest shrimp farm in the U.S.A. producing 1.8 million pounds of shrimp annually. From our pond to the customer's plate, Bowers Shrimp handles the product with extreme care for you, our valued customer.

The Pacific White shrimp are grown on the Texas coast in bay water ponds producing a lower iodine level in the shrimp. The ponds are stocked in April and May with certified disease-free seed stock. Bowers shrimp are grain-fed up to five times a day, a grain-based feed produces a sweet flavor ing the shrimp. Harvest takes place annually from September through November. As the shrimp are harvested they immediately fall into a vat of ice slush for a quick chill-kill to ensure the freshness and quality of the shrimp.

Our processing plant is a state-of-the-art facility that locks in uncompromised freshness by immediate processing. At Bowers our unique spiral freezer individually quick-freezes (IQF) our products to ensure quality. With responsible and sensitive handling, our facility will process between 60,000 and 80,000 pounds of shrimp per day. We consistently and carefully monitor our shrimp in accordance with the FDA’s HACCP Program to maintain the correct temperature. Bowers Shrimp are stored at sub-zero degrees temperatures to guarantee a consistently fresh and flavorful product.
